The Herald
Introduction
At Brightstone Books, we take fantasy beyond the traditional print, providing an immersive experience through soundscape audiobooks, interactive ebooks, a video series and more. We seek a dynamic individual to lead our crowdfunding campaigns, secure endorsements, and serve as a significant face of our company to investors, donors, and partners.
Qualifications
You have a skill set and personality suited for executing successful events, PR, and crowdfunding campaigns. This includes community building with regular outreach and strategic audience engagement to ensure an ever-expanding network.
You can think outside of the box, collaborate with the creative department, and follow directions while creating strategic ways to accomplish goals.
You have solid communication and negotiation skills you can put to use in meetings, pitches, and written communication. Basically, you’re a person who can hold their own in any conversation.
Sales experience, business management, familiarity with ad strategy, or skills in persuasive writing are all a bonus. If you’re confident, enjoy challenges, and appreciate unconventional thinking and strategy, you’ll do well.
You enjoy the fantasy genre (in any form - books, movies, games, anime, etc.) but particularly have an interest or curiosity in the mythopoeic dark fantasy genre.
You enjoy topics that invoke philosophical reflection, explore existential conditions, and human nature.

Current Responsibilities (Rotates by season and campaign cycle)
Public Relations
Look for opportunities to increase visibility and positive awareness of Brightstone Books
Crowdfunding
Planning and execution of multiple crowdfunding campaigns annually
Build and grow a large community through strategic audience engagement and networking
Secure Endorsements
Identify individuals with influence and do what it takes to secure endorsements
Effectively use endorsements in marketing and crowdfunding
Talent Acquisition
Identify, negotiate, and secure actors, composers, singers, cosplayers, and other creatives who fit the project’s vision
Maintain organized records of outreach and help manage relationships with confirmed talent
Manage Community Events
Assist managing community building events such as small/medium expos, ensure proper staffing, invite relevant celebrities, popular cosplayers, etc.
Negotiate Top Influencers for Advertising
Connect with influencers that our research has deemed effective for our campaign
Pitch collaboration ideas and negotiate mutually beneficial agreements
Track performance, manage timelines, and help grow our influencer network over time
Ongoing Education
Stay up to date on crowdfunding trends, marketing strategies, and audience behavior in the fantasy genre
Be proactive in learning new tools, following industry developments, and sharing relevant insights with the team during meetings
Compensation and Meeting Requirements
Meetings
You may work remotely aside from the in-person team meetings that are held quarterly at our office in Salt Lake City, though this may vary depending on our needs.
If you are located outside of Utah but within the USA, that's no problem. We will cover your travel and accommodations for these meetings.
Please do not apply if you aren’t willing to attend our 2-3 in-person team meetings per year.
Compensation and Workload
$25–$30/hr
Performance bonuses (PR wins or acquisitions, crowdfunding, endorsements, partnerships, events, community growth). Bonus-heavy months during campaigns/events may reach $10,000+. More info provided if you make it to the Second Round of interviews.

We conduct a three-round hiring process, narrowing the candidate pool at each stage. Applications will only be accepted up to February 24th, though the window may close earlier if positions are filled. We’re aiming to hire quickly if we find the right candidates, so if you're interested, we recommend applying without delay. Candidates moving to the second round will be notified directly.
Our roles tend to attract a high volume of applicants.
